Nagoya City Workers’ Union held an online meeting for its branch organizers and publicity officers on how to unionize workers including new staff hired in April and to make their union activities more energetic, on February 2. Participants shared their efforts to unionize recruits last year and reported their ways of doing union’s daily tasks.
In the session of engaging new faces in the union, attendees confirmed that it was important that young union members asked new employees to join the union on their first day at work, and that union members talked to them about how they felt about becoming part of the union.
In the session of union activities, participants reported their experiences of holding virtual meetings using Zoom or negotiating with the authorities. They also discussed their ideas for keeping their activities going, even amid the Coronavirus pandemic.
